In 2025 we will searching for outstanding submissions in Screen Production, Photography, Journalism, Creative Writing, Games Art, Graphic Design, Sound Production, Theatre and Drama, Radio, and Strategic Communication for the Murdoch University MESH Awards.
THE GOLDEN MESH AWARD
Winners of each category progress to the final stage of the competition and compete for the coveted GOLDEN MESH AWARD. The Golden Mesh is awarded to the most outstanding submission across all categories and is selected by an expert panel of industry experts. The winning entry will demonstrate a sophisticated level of creativity, thought, and originality and exhibit significant skill in producing media content. The winner will be announced at the Mesh at Murdoch Award Ceremony (The Meshies) in December where they will be awarded a $500 Visa Gift Card and winner’s trophy.
Entrants initially compete with other WA students in their chosen category and are judged by relevant media academics within Murdoch University’s School of Arts. The winner of each category becomes an automatic finalist for the GOLDEN MESH AWARD.

- Best Short Film
- Best Persuasive Speech
- Best Video Game Character Concept
- Best Magazine Cover Design
- Best Music Production
- Best Recorded Interview
- Best Photographic Series
- Best Dramatic Monologue to Camera
- Best Online News Story
- Best Short Story

Before entering the Mesh at Murdoch Awards, make sure you carefully read the Terms and Conditions of entry and entry guidelines.
PRIZES
Category finalists will receive a Certificate of Excellence and $50 JB-HI voucher. The overall winner will receive $500 Visa Gift Card, along with the inaugural Golden Mesh trophy.
MESHIES
All finalists will be invited to the Murdoch Media Showcase on in early December each year for the Mesh at Murdoch Awards ceremony. In addition, the winning finalist will be invited to exhibit their work alongside Murdoch’s final-year media projects at the special showcase event.
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for the MESH at Murdoch Awards, you must meet all of the below criteria, please tick the boxes to make sure you are eligible to enter these awards:
- Be enrolled as a year 10 or 11 WA high school student for the academic year
- Have permission from a parent or guardian to enter the awards
- Have an endorsement from a teacher within your school to enter the awards
Give permission for your image and name to be used by the university in their media and publications and to co-operate with reasonable marketing requests for the purpose of publicity for the MESH at Murdoch Awards.
